SAP Program for Truck drivers who operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) are required to receive specialized training on a regular basis. The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that truck drivers complete a Substance Abuse Program (SAP) evaluation if they violate the DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations. The evaluation is conducted by a DOT-qualified SAP and includes a return-to-duty process that the driver must successfully complete before he or she can operate a CMV. The following is an overview of the SAP program for truck drivers.
